Team Zoo Fun Facts:

Team Zoo held PCVB scoreless for 4 innings total (1,2,4&5) in game 3.
We held Academy scoreless 3 innings straight (3,4,5) in game 1.
Pitcher Donna Iallegio-Pelletier struck out 4 batters (3 in game 1 vs. Academy).
We turned a team total of 8 double plays.
[1] Ken Pelletier, Amy Ivins and Becky Wolf executed a beautiful textbook 6-4-3 double play in inning 4 of game 3 vs. PCVB.
[2] Chris Oberlin caught a fly ball in left field and threw to third baseman Chris Waldron who tagged a Daily News baserunner who had left the bag in inning 3 of game 4.
[3] Second baseperson Amy Ivins turned a solo double play in inning 5 of game 5 vs. Franklin by catching a line drive and tagging a baserunner who had left second base.
[4] In game 7 vs. PCD, third baseman Greg O'Neill fielded a grounder, tossed it to Amy Ivins at second, who threw to Tara Brody at first and turned 2.
[5,6] Ken Pelletier turned 2 double plays in game 9 vs. PCD by fielding the ball at short, stepping on second base and tossing to first baseperson Tara Brody for the second out(s).
[7,8] Greg O'Neill turned 2 double plays in game 12 vs. Franklin: for the first, he caught a fly ball almost over his head and tossed to second to tag up a runner who left the bag; for the second, he fielded a grounder, got a force out at third and threw to first for the second out.
Chris Oberlin fielded a single in left field, threw to shortstop Ken Pelletier who threw to catcher Dana Borgstrom who tagged out a PBJ baserunner at home for a spectacular play in game 2.
In inning 4 of game 4 vs. Daily News, left fielder Chris Oberlin made a nice sliding catch while going down to one knee, and two plays later Ron Fricke outdid him by going full-out and making a diving catch in center field.
Kristen Lewis made a sweet running catch in the CCSL 'All-Star game' on 9/10/02.
Chris Oberlin made what was dubbed the "MVP spinderella acrobatic catch of the game" (by Kristen Lewis) in the CCSL 'All-Star game' on 9/10/02 when he backpeddled, turned around, ran, turned around, ran, turned around, and caught a towering shot into right field.
In our worst defensive inning, we gave up 11 runs in inning 3 of game 2 vs. PBJ.
That same game was our worst collective defensive effort as well, giving up a wolloping 33 runs (in 6 innings).
In game 6 vs. Academy, we held a 7-4 lead going into the 6th inning, but gave up 7 and 5 runs in the the last 2 innings (and left 11 on base, our worst effort) to lose the lead and the game.
[Offensive]
No team member struck out.
Team Zoo rocked 18 runs in game 11 vs. PDN and topped our best 7-inning game of 2001 by 8 runs.
Team Zoo has scored at least 5 runs in an inning 7 times (games 1,2,4,6,9,11,12).
Our best offensive inning was in game 1 vs. Academy, where we scored 8 runs in inning 6.
In that same inning, Team Zoo collectively hit 8 straight hits in a row.
Game 11 vs. PDN saw Team Zoo score at least one run in 6 of 7 innings, a team record in our CCSL history.
We scored runs in 5 of 6 innings (no at-bats in final half-inning as winning home team) vs. Franklin in game 12.
In game 1 vs. Academy, every Team Zoo member had at least 1 hit and either an RBI or Run Scored.
All players had at least one hit in game 12 vs. Franklin (10 of 11 players with an RBI or RS).
And in game 6 vs. Academy, every Team Zoo player had at least 1 hit (9 of 10 had either an RBI or RS).
Again, every player had at least 1 hit also in game 10 vs. PCVB (and 7 of 9 had either an RBI or RS).
Every player reached base safely in game 11 vs. PDN
Becky Wolf hit Team Zoo's only grand slam in game 2 vs. PBJ.
Chris Oberlin and Todd Sinander hit back-to-back home runs in inning 2 of game 11 vs. PDN.
Todd Sinander, Ken Pelletier and Chris Oberlin combined to go 14-for-14 in game 2 vs. PBJ.
Ken Pelletier hit for the cycle in game 2 vs. PBJ (2 singles, double, triple, home run) AND in game 5 vs. Franklin (single, double, triple, home run).
Ken Pelletier had 13 straight hits over games 2,3,5&6 (DNP game 4) including 3 singles, 4 doubles, 2 triples, and 4 home runs, with 11 RBI and 5 runs scored.
Todd Sinander, Chris Oberlin and Becky Wolf have also totaled at least one single, double, triple and home run.
Ken Pelletier, Greg O'Neill, Todd Sinander, Becky Wolf and Chris Oberlin have totaled double-figures in both RBI and Runs Scored.
Todd Sinander began the season by hitting safely in his first 9 straight at bats (over the first 3 games) and ended the season by going 8-for-8 in his last 8 at-bats over the final 2 games.
Greg O'Neill also finished the regular season with an 8-for-8 streak over the last 3 league games, including a perfect 6-for-6 in the final 2 which also included an RBI sac-fly.
Chris Oberlin had 2 7-straight-hits streaks over three game spans (games 1-3 and 6-8).
Chris Oberlin (13) & Ken Pelletier (9) both had at least two hits in every game they played.
In fact, Ken had at least 3 hits in 6 of those 9 games.
Chris Waldron was the only other TZ player to reach base safely in every game he played (8), not counting Greg Dearing (2), Shannon O'Neill (2) and Carrie Buscher (1).
The Team Zoo contingency of the CCSL 'All-Star game' (Chris O, Chris W, Greg O, Kristen) on 9/10/02 combined to go 7-for-12 with 5 singles, a double and triple, 3 RS, 1 RBI and reached base 9 times.
In our worst offensive game, we had a paltry 2 runs on 8 hits in game 8 vs. PBJ, playing with only 8 players.
Team Zoo hit into 7 double-plays.
[Miscellaneous]
Game 1 vs. Academy was played in the sopping rain and called after 6 innings due to darkness.
Game 2 vs. PBJ was also called after 6 innings due to darkness.
Team Zoo played with only 8 players in game 7 vs. PCD, which supplied a catcher as per league rules. However, the catcher was not allowed to make any plays on the ball.
In game 8 vs. PBJ, we also played with only 8 players, except for inning 3 in which we had 9 (late arrivals and early leavers).
We again played with only 8 players for the first 4 innings of game 10 vs. PCVB.
Chris Oberlin left 3 games with at least one shin bleeding.
Ken Pelletier hit a towering shot into the outfield in game 12 vs. Franklin, but injured his leg while rounding the bases of this sure-fire home run, and ended up hopping to third in severe pain to get a triple.
Chris Oberlin was rounding second for a sure-triple in inning 3 of the Vet Stadium game when the base gave way and sent him flying, resulting in multiple pieces of flesh missing from various body parts (severe turf rash) and him going back to second for a double.
The team stats for the Vet Stadium game include Pete Hoskins' stats (CEO/President of the Zoo and non-regular Team Zoo member), which were 3-4 with 2 singles, a double, 3 RBI, 3 OB and 6 TBT.
