The Songs : Eraser

Music (1/05) Words (7/04, 1/05)
*Finished* 1/05

I never liked you
I never thought you fair
I didn’t meet your son
Or ever feel your stare

I don’t remember your face
I don’t recall ever finding my place
We never talked in the dark
& I didn't begin to find a place to start

I have been... defeated
It's a good thing... you’ve been deleted

If you give me one reason to invade me, I'll let you
But you better give me two more reasons to forget you

You never led me on
I hadn't felt like that in so long
I couldn't help myself
& I refused to choose advice from anyone else

I have been... defeated
It's a good thing... you’ve been deleted

If you give me one reason to invade me, I'll let you
But you better give me two more reasons to forget you
And three would make it easier, I know, I'd bet
Because I need all the help I can get

I never knew I was doomed from the start
It was your play and you nailed your part
I know your name was written down
Top of the page with a circle around
I need an eraser I think
Too bad you were, oh you were written in ink

Background:
Music: The main riff was written as some random funky thing with absolutely no words or vocal melody in mind. After I figured out what I had already written lyrically could fit in there somehow, the rest of the music was written to fit the rest of the lyrics, which were shortly finished after starting the music. Ends up short, to the point. Three and one-quarter minutes. I intentionally wrote the parts to this song at about the same tempo with the aim to make sure I could put drums behind them on a recording for a future album, and it's gonna be a whole lot of fun.
Lyrics: It started out as a lyrical idea in a few parts and sat around for 6 months and then the music came along that seemed to work, but it ended up being a lot more rockin' than I had imagined when starting the words. This one is about a girl, on whom I had a major crush for probably 4-5 months. It was futile and brutal and was much more physical than anything, unfortunately. She really had me hooked, but she had a boyfriend the whole time (who I knew about). I really don't know what I was thinking, but it was hard to shake it. I guess that's what happens when there's nothing else going on. it's a good song idea, though.
