Just some ink and cardboard
maybe a picture or a poem
what could be more harmless?
I guess I should've stayed home
And I feel like the idiot that I am
Nervous tension in my hands
with the warmest smile reply
my chance to be famous
but now my eyes are dry
And I feel like the idiot that I am
And I feel like the idiot that I am
Keep the card
but scratch out my number
before you tear it up
I didn't even mean to write it down
so look away
pretend it didn't happen
my cause was lost
the very moment that you broke the seal
I am done
Can I have it back?
I'll take it back
give the card back
give it back
I am no longer who you think I am
I am no longer who you think I am
I've moved on
I've moved on

Background:
Music: Just happened to come up with a super funky riff the day I wrote the lyrics down... ended up fitting well with the words thus far, and far more up tempo than I had imagined. But it rocks. Once it got started it only took a few days to finish... I was kinda intently obsessive about it. This one is around 3:40ish long and very to-the-point.
Lyrics: Third installment of the "Rosetti Trilogy" (+ Rebound & Still With You). Started in my head a few weeks before I put them down on paper.
