Two days, two drops of blood
no scars and a whole lotta love
she swore, he was the one
but in time the lies would come
he said, she was too young
but don't care where she came from
three times, she tried to run
still came back from above...
under the gun
He's sorry
he knows not what he does
but he knows why
Two years, too much the same
yet still nothing has changed
one down, one on the way
and he thinks she is to blame
she says, it's hard to stay sane
when you live day by day
like soap, caught in the drain
always stuck in the shame...
playing the game
She's sorry
she knows not why it leaves
before its time
She believes what she needs
is lying on the floor
everytime she bleeds
it hurts just like before
And what he cannot have
the only thing he wants
tortured by the past
a father's ghost always haunts
history repeats
history repeats
history repeats

Background:
Lyrics: A focused, concerted effort on my part to write differently, this time with something from the third person... this has been a hard song to write. The lyrics have been tweaked a lot, and changed here and there after the song has taken different turns where I didn't want it to go. This was previously titled Two Drops Of Blood, and also Stuck. After the initial verses and riff, I also wrote a chorus (music and words) but it didn't seem to go well with the verses, so I cut it out completely and it began as its own song called Turn (which went nowhere). There are lots of things going on within the story, and some of it (very little) is based on real-life happenings (i.e., the first two lines are about an experience I had that has nothing to do with the rest of the song) - but by and large, it's pure fiction. I'm just trying to do something new. This sat on the song shelf for almost 4 years, but I always liked the melody so I came back to it and got some ideas on where to go out of the verse. Lyrically, it turned into this whole story about a couple...
Music: uh... I don't even remember how or why. It's fairly simple. Just notes, no chords. the middle part between the verse and chorus is a cool funky flowy thingy. Turned out longer than expected, around 3:45.
