The Songs : Far Away

*Finished* 6/99
Music (5-6/99) Words (5-6/99)

I see you in my dreams at night
I see you in the sky
I see you in reflections of the cars that pass me by
I hear you mumbling in my thoughts
not knowing what to say
it kills me when I have to think of you so far away
we've come such a long way, together
one thing left to do
oh how much I wish that I was right in front of you

But, no... no, no, no...
these living walls between us
they keep me locked away from all that
so I just scratch my chin and wonder
leaving me with nothing to fall back

Time and space - our only enemy
face to face - it's so hard to be
out of place - how I feel without you
saving grace - knowing that the bond we have is true

Visions of you smiling at me
circle in my mind
and no matter where I go, they stay with me in time
words are filled with love and laughter
and I feel what I see
pages sent straight from your heart surely speak to me
I could call you at this moment
and tell you all I know
I've been around the world but there's just one last place to go

But no... no, no, no...
my ears still lie in silence
and my eyes can't wait much longer to see
but all good things come in time
I'm waiting patiently

Time and space - our only enemy
face to face - why is it so hard to be
out of place - is how I feel without you
saving grace - knowing that the love we have is true
I know that the love we have is true

Background:
Lyrics: This song is known around the HdH offices as Robin's Song. Finished on 6/12/99. Kinda cheesy in the end, but the sentiment is honest.
Music: No idea... just kinda neat. The verse riff was well in place before any lyrics were written... and they were written to flow with the music. Then, I wrote more lyrics for a bridge and then wrote the music to go along with the new lyrics. Make any sense? Then a chorus came (lyrics before music), but it sucked, so I changed it around and it's groovy. And there's a running theme that ends each section... plus, then I implemented this little jam (written completely out of context of the song itself) that kinda sounds like "Come Sail Away" by Styx in the middle before the last chorus. heh. It's pretty cool how it all came together. This song hovers around 4 min long... whew! (Music was finally finished on my birthday).
