The Recording History of HdH 2004-2007

George's End | January 2015

This is the documented chronological history of the studio recordings of Huge Down Here. All studio sessions from January 2015 until the present were recorded at George's End in Havertown, PA. Everything from March 2006 through April 2014 was recorded at Twin-B Studios in Drexel Hill, PA. Sessions from February 2002 until February 2006 were recorded at Rock Spot (Rooms 1 & 2) in Philly, PA; recordings from June 2001 through January 2002 occurred at The Fifth Row in Philly, PA; all sessions prior to March 29, 2001 took place at Selma Studios in Norristown, PA. All album work after April 2002 is done on the 10-track stand-alone recorder; all demos are recorded on the computer using Essie unless otherwise noted. We do not include here the live recording sessions of '99 that produced the Tree Farm Sessions, or any of the earlier spontaneous live recordings.

17 December 07 - Psych! Although, all I did was spend about 7 minutes tweaking one little mix in Whiskey & Women and remastering.
15 December 07 - Finished mixing and mastered Still With You and this mofo is DONE! ~0.5 hr
14 December 07 - Mixed Still With You - it still needs a tweak and a master, but we're about a half hour from being totally done with this puppy ~2 hrs
13 December 07 - Mixed & mastered Temperature, then went back and tweaked it (guess what? with glitches) and after much effort, re-mastered [two sessions] ~4.0 hrs
12 December 07 - Tweaking of Simply Because mix (with yet more glitches); re-mastered ~1 hr
11 December 07 - Monster mix/master session for Simply Because, but it fuckin' rocks... and then there were two? ~3 hrs
10 December 07 - Tweaked some of MSAHG's mix after listening to it again and then re-mastered, with difficulty (weird hard drive mess-ups) but miraculously we have a solid, glitch-free master ~1 hr
09 December 07 - Mixed & mastered Christmas Card (twice) and also MSAHG [two sessions] ~4.5 hrs
06 December 07 - Mixed and mastered What About Now ~2.5 hrs
04 December 07 - One big dual session adding electric guitar to [dare I say 'solo'?! (S)] and doing all vocals for Still With You - wow, are we done? ~4.0 hrs

Tried to simply edit some drums and fix one small acoustic guitar part on What About Now, ended up accidentally erasing all instrumentation and vocals while editing drums (studio malfunction, not human error) - backup file did not have vocals but had all instruments; re-edited drums and re-added one "newer" acoustic part to the backup file (after backing up the backup) when it erased itself yet again; re-re-edited the drums and re-re-added the newer part, then fixed the other part from the original plan and also fixed another acoustic part (T,E) [3 sessions; vocals still need to be re-done] ~2.5 hrs
